Odyssey: Concentration 1

For my concentration this school year (2018-2019), I have decided upon the topic of "odyssey" to explore. Right now, I'm envisioning self-discovery, coming-of-age, journey, and the idea of "metanoia"- a Greek word which describes the kind of transformation of the heart and mind when one goes through a journey.

Here is the self-portrait I sketched this summer. This kept me busy partially during some long car rides to Savannah, Georgia to visit SCAD, and Florida to stay at Daytona Beach!

My first three of the Eros triptych are almost done! I have been taking progression photos so on my next post I will contain all the progression to get the finished works. I really am enjoying the blowtorch effect and am coming to understand it more every time I use it! Not sure how all these little bubbles will work out as abstract cherry blossoms in the end but we'll get it there! ;) ;) ;)
